Stinky-Poo…?*

“There is a vitality, a life-force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivates you.”

Martha Graham

Not exactly the most succinctly worded sentiment.
But one that bears repeating, over and over again!
For myself, if not for you and yours…

Now…
It’s been a long time since a post of mine elicited absolutely no response, whatsoever, from the vastness that is the blog-o-sphere…

Nada.
Zilch.
Whoa, Nelly, even the crickets grew self-conscious.

I guess baseball really is dying in this country…
I, for one, shall mourn its passing.

* From the 1976 film “Murder by Death”, based on the Neil Simon play of the same name… and with apologies to Estelle Winwood.

  1. I’m reminded of Mark Twain…..and I think any reports of the demise of baseball are probably grossly exaggerated. I know this because I am not at all a fan of spectator sports, whether baseball, football, soccer, cricket…you name it. It’s all a big yawn to me. But I think I am in the minority, because all I hear around me is about these things constantly. It leaves me dumb at the water cooler (if I were to be at a water cooler)….I have to put up with the chat, and I don’t even know which teams are playing. Maybe Americans just have too many diversions vying for their attention, now, than they did in the past. But from where I sit having to hear it all constantly as a non-spectator, I don’t think you need worry about the death of baseball anytime soon.

    • Well, of course I worry about it… what true believer (with apologies to Stan Lee… (man!!! I’m just apologizing all over the place today…)) wouldn’t?
I will admit to being much less rabid than I used to be about all of it. I don’t know if that’s because I’m getting older, or because I’ve foresworn all the usual media outlets and gone mostly cold turkey for the bulk of it all…
