An Appreciation

Title… we don’t need no stinking title…

Today is the day on which we remember the 182nd birthday of one Edgar Degas.
He is considered one of, if not the founder of the Impressionistic movement, although he preferred to think of himself as a “realist”.

One of these days, we really need to sit down and hash out a working definition for all of these labels.

As is my wont when these types of birthdays come along, I’ll dispense with the snappy repartee… look it up… and let the artist speak for himself.

It’s also the anniversary of the publication of The Fellowship of the Ring, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Some might consider that a more important anniversary than Degas’, but they can bloody well get their own blog, and blogviate all they want, ’til the cows come home…

… not that Tolkien isn’t a seminal figure in my literary life…

… cause he is…

  1. It’s interesting to me that the more tired I become (Wearius Maximus Rex), it’s the title of these posts that’s the first to go…
I’m sure that says something… about something or the other…
But I’m too tired to figure it out…
