Today is the day that Louis Armstrong turns the ripe old age of 115 years young.
One of the most influential jazz musicians of all time certainly doesn’t need any help from whatever poor excuses for writing I could send his way.
So we’ll let him speak for himself.
And no celebration of the great Louis Armstrong would be complete without the following…
Of course, you could say that about any number of his recordings.
When the Saints Go Marching In.
Summertime.
April in Paris.
Pick one…
Pick them all…
Enjoy!
Happy birthday, Pops.

Wow, what a month of musically great birthdays!
Tony Bennett yesterday, Satchmo today.
Years ago, when I was knee high to a grasshopper, I got to see the all African-American cast of “Hello Dolly” with Pearl Bailey on Broadway. The night we saw it the grand musician singing, “Hello Dolly” was the man himself. I think we were just lucky because he’s not on any of the credits for the production, but I’ll never forget it!
