… but not really feeling it.

Super, Schmooper…

Turns out, last nights’ moon didn’t start out so super, after all…

More of a super-ish moon…
One of those moons that joins the local group of super planets and planetoids and such, but doesn’t really belong…

You know what I mean?
The kind of moon who never gets the really big, bad-*** story line, where the entire universe is gonna go all kablooie, and stuff…
No, this was more the type of moon who always seems to star in the “… very special episode…”, about personal discovery, and what it means to be a moon in this age of massive telescopes and space travel…

You know…
A ‘feel-good’ kind of moon story…

“Hey…!”
“He may not be as super as some of his fellow heavenly objects…”
“But he’s trying really, really hard… okay?”
“Back off!”

You gotta admit… that top image looks more like a navel orange way past its prime, than a rare astronomical occurrence…
There was just entirely too much pollution and moisture in the atmosphere…

As the moon continued to rise, the viewing became a bit better…

The color hung around for a while, but it too soon went the way of all planetary flesh…

The thing about shooting with a tele-extender on top of a long telephoto lens, in daylight, is it really points out the flaws in your optics,,,

And gives you a nasty vignette, as well.

Ah, well…
And so we shoot…
And shoot another one…

And then shoot some more…

Unfortunate, that I couldn’t get the clarity of later viewing with the color of earlier times…
Tomorrows moon rises some 40 minutes later than today, while the sunset comes even earlier than it did today…

Alas and alack…

You’ll just have to settle for a plain ol’ moon shot.
Just like every other month…

Kinda like this one, from later on last night…

There may be a cape in there, somewhere…
Or at least a utility belt…

I’d even accept some wicked killer boots!

But with the lack of ambient light, who can tell…?
