Just lucky, I guess…

There’s this thing in writing… or really, a series of categories, that people are always trying to stick the rest of the population into.

Harrumph…

People can’t just let you be whatever you want to be.
They have to label you.
Because labels are oh, so much easier to use.

Means you don’t have to think as much, when interacting with all those other people.
Means you think you know this or that person…
Means you’ve got them “all figured out”, and can now go while away your time on social media…

Harrumph…

As far as writing is concerned, they like to label you as either a “plotter” or a “pantser”.

Meaning you’re either very methodical, and plot the snot right out of your writing… with outlines and cards and post-it notes, and having the structure all thought out before you begin to write.

Or you “pants” it, flying (writing) by the seat of your pants… reacting to whatever comes out, and using that as the indicator of where the plot is going…

With all the multitudinous variations that exist within the confines of a two-method system, of course…

Well, let me save you the bother of having to do any work, on my behalf…

As far as photography is concerned, I’m a “pantser”…

london-too

These two pictures are from a time I spent in London.
In December of that year…

The light was absolutely stunning the entire time I was there.
A “Golden Hour” that pretty much lasted all day long, given the latitude and the time of year.

Wandering near Buckingham Palace, as the sun was setting for the day produced some memorable shots… these are just two of them…

I know I’ve talked about the Zen of photography before.
But I will occasionally plan out an excursion to a specific place… especially if I have particular shots in mind… like astrophotography… or even sunsets…

But for the most part, I like to explore…
I like to go out to see what photographs are being sent my way.

I’m a tourist, basically…

I do not here “pooh-pooh” those photographers who are the plotters of our times.
I have all the respect in the world for any shutterbugs of different ilk’s…
They do too much outstanding work to have anything but admiration and love for them.

I’m just not that way, myself…

Sometimes I wish I was…
Sometimes I don’t…

Mostly, I try not to photograph myself into a corner.

Harrumph…

It seems I will resist the urge to pigeon-hole, whenever I can.

Sometimes even in myself.
