An Appreciation

Happy Birthday…

Today is the day on which we remember the birth of Douglas Adams – a giant in the field of:

“…comedic sci-fi authors who tried for the rest of their lives to get Hollywood to make a film of their magnum opus but who dies before it came to fruition… only to see it immediately green-lighted by the powers that be, which is probably causing no small amount of grave-spinning to occur… but he was an atheist, even if he is up there looking down on us, he’s probably keeping the spinning to a minimum, just on principle…”

… um… field…

Granted, it’s a rather specialized sub grouping…

… but still…

Below is an interview Adams gave to Clive Anderson on British TV.

Anderson, for those of you who don’t know, was the original host of the original incarnation of “Whose Line is it Anyway” on the BBC, long before the US version, but still the show on which Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie got their television start.

Happy Birthday, Douglas…

We miss you!
