Etc., etc., etc…

I once posted something to the effect that I couldn’t possibly write something each and every day; there just isn’t enough things worth mentioning, much less reading about… Silly rabbit… The problem these days seems to be that there are entirely too many things that need to be said, discussed and challenged, and the problem, at least for me, is to keep from falling into the gaping abyss of pessimism and depression by the sheer magnitude of the tasks before us. Yes, US… I not doing this alone, people… Someone put the nit-twit down and help me… If anyone is even reading this, which I, for one, don’t really believe. But that’s not why one writes, or, at least, not why I write. In the academic world there’s a fairly well accepted maxim that runs “publish or perish.’ For me, it’s publish or scream. And the world is already a much too noisy place as it is… Yes, this blog could be construed as adding to the noise, but, since no one reads it, it …

Fox News is at it again…

Well, you certainly have to give them an ‘A’ for persistence, even if they really should be expelled from humanity for all time for lack of decency, fair play and credibility… Fox News’ nit-twit account was ‘apparently hacked’, resulting in six messages sent out to more than 36,000 followers, saying that Barack Obama had been assassinated in Iowa, even going so far in one twit as to name the restaurant where it happened. Fox has apologized for ‘any distress the false Tweets (twits) may have created.” Never mind the fact that the President’s schedule had been announced for days as hosting military families at a cookout on the South Lawn, followed by fireworks… It’s really quite the toss-up as to which part of this story is the more disturbing; the fact that Twitter can be hacked, the fact that Fox automatically screams anytime someone else claims to be hacked while expecting everyone to just accept their version when it happens to them, or the fact that Fox News has over 36,000 nit-twit followers…

I’ve decided to re-post some entries from another site, so as to have all posts in one spot… If the three of you who have ever read my various blogs are seeing this again, feel free to ignore… Thursday – 7/3/08 “I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington… I’m asking you to believe in yours.” Masthead of the index page to BarackObama.com I want to believe… I really do… I was SO excited, to be living in a time when other people were just so gosh darn excited about the political process. Excited to have a voice, and to be those agents of change Senator Obama so often talks about… I saw, in the Senator’s campaign, an almost nostalgic longing for a time when people actually believed, in their rights as American citizens, in their ability to make their voices heard and to make the course of this nation a matter of public discourse… I foresaw a time, not yet here but coming, when we …
