Happy Birthday, Pi…

No, not the character in the movie who went to sea with – of all things – a tiger… And not the birthday of the guy (or woman… I don’t really have any empirical knowledge as to whom invented what…), I say, the person who came up with the whole fruit in a dish and cover it with a pastry of some kind and then heat it to the temperature of approximately molten lava for around 3.14159 hours… No, I’m talking about Pi day… Which is, of course, only an approximation… I mean, how does one represent .14159265359 worth of a day? With the clock, and a calculator, I would assume… But someone’s gonna be upset because you left off the rest of the digits… How many digits are there, you might ask…? Millions… And counting… Try rounding that up on your standard 24-hour clock… Me…? I’m too busy shoveling out from under a mound a Pi snow… (Snow Pi…? Snow Pie…? Mmmmmmm, apples…!) “A-yep… “I remember the great Pi snow of ought-17… We …

Happy Pi Day, everyone…

… for the mathematical geek in all of us… You know who you are. How you live for those grand moments in your personal calendar year. Like 10-10-10, or 12-12-12… You might even go so far as to take the trouble to sniff out those extra special, once-in-a-lifetime types of dates. Such as 11-12-13, or the last binary day those of you reading this are likely to experience – 11-11-11. Some of us even take it down to the second. 11:11, 11-11-11 But that only works if your watch is updated to the US Atomic Clock every night. Like mine is. If you’re gonna geek out anyway, you might as well go whole hog, and be accurate about it. Otherwise, you’re just playing at geek-dom. Those of us who’re serious about all of this shall laugh at you to your face. Ha ha… ha ha ha ha. Now, go away, or I shall taunt you a second time… Nee!   Photos found here.
